Plan the Perfect 2 Week Greek Island-Hopping Itinerary
Dreaming of clear blue waters, sun-kissed beaches, charming whitewashed towns, and delicious souvlaki? Yep, you must be thinking of a Greek island-hopping adventure! Whether you’re a first-time traveler or a seasoned globetrotter, planning the perfect two-week Greek itinerary can feel a bit overwhelming. But don't worry—I’ve got you covered. Earlier this year I travelled through Greece for roughly 2 weeks and here is my ultimate guide to exploring Athens, Naxos, Aegina, Santorini and Mykonos.
Day 1-3: Kick Things Off in Athens
Start your adventure in the historical heart of Greece, Athens. This vibrant city is a perfect mix of ancient history and modern vibes.
Must-Do Activities in Athens:
Visit the Acropolis and marvel at the Parthenon (an absolute must!).
Stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, filled with cute shops, cafes, and plenty of photo opportunities.
Catch the sunset at Mount Lycabettus—you can either hike up (it’s worth the sweat) or take the funicular.
If you’re planning to visit multiple sites, grab the Athens Combo Pass to save some euros and skip the lines!
Day 4-5: Day Trip to Aegina
Before heading to the Cyclades, take a quick ferry ride to Aegina, one of the Saronic Islands just an hour away from Athens. This island is a hidden gem with fewer tourists, making it the perfect first stop. It was so cute and the perfect way to spend the day outside of Athens.
What to See & Do in Aegina:
Visit the Temple of Aphaia. You’ll get amazing views here!
Relax at Agia Marina Beach—a sandy haven perfect for lounging with a cold frappe.
Don't forget to try Aegina’s famous pistachios. They’re some of the best in the world! I didn’t realize this before travelling there, or even once I arrived. I started to wonder why there were pistachios almost EVERYWHERE on this island. We missed out and only realized they were famous for pistachios because our driver told us about it once we arrived back into Athens.
Day 6-9: The cutest island that ever did exist - Naxos
Hop on a ferry from Athens to Naxos (about 4 hours). Naxos is often overlooked, but trust me, this island is a treasure trove of sandy beaches, ancient ruins, and mouthwatering food.
Naxos Highlights:
Spend a lazy day at Plaka Beach or Agios Prokopios Beach—crystal-clear waters and soft sand absolutely everywhere.
Wander the narrow alleys of Naxos Town (Chora).
Don’t miss the sunset at the Temple of Apollo.
Rent a scooter to explore the island at your own pace!
Day 10-12: Blues & views of Santorini
Next stop: the iconic island of Santorini! From Naxos, it's a quick 2-hour ferry ride. Santorini’s stunning cliffs, blue-domed churches, and epic sunsets will steal your heart.
Top Things to Do in Santorini:
Wander through the picturesque villages of Oia and Fira—those postcard-perfect views are even better in person.
Visit the Akrotiri Archaeological Site to discover the remnants of a Minoan city.
Visit the unique Red Beach or the black sand Kamari Beach for a different vibe.
End the day with a glass of wine at a sunset winery tour or book your Santorini Sunset Cruise in advance to avoid the crowds and snag early bird discounts.
Day 13-14: Party all night long in Mykonos
Last but not least, sail over to the party island of Mykonos (about 2.5 hours from Santorini). Known for its nightlife and beach clubs, it’s the perfect way to wrap up your Greek getaway.
Things to Do in Mykonos:
Get your groove on at Paradise Beach or Super Paradise Beach—the beach bars are legendary! This was the highlight of my visit to Mykonos - you have to go!
Wander through Mykonos Town (Chora) and admire the charming windmills and colorful streets.
Check out the Armenistis Lighthouse for a more laid-back, peaceful experience.
Grab brunch at Little Venice with stunning sea views.
Travel Tips for the Perfect Island-Hopping Adventure
Book ferries in advance—especially during peak season (June-August). I recommend using FerryHopper for easy booking and great prices.
Travel light! Carry a backpack or a small suitcase since ferry rides can get a bit crowded. You will thank me later!
Pack sunscreen and a good hat—it’s sunny and hot during peak season and the crowds do not help with the heat.
Consider staying in Airbnbs or boutique hotels for a more authentic experience and better deals.
There you have it—a dreamy, two-week Greek island-hopping itinerary that blends adventure, culture, relaxation, and of course, epic sunsets. Whether you’re sipping wine in Santorini, scootering around Naxos, or dancing the night away in Mykonos, this trip will be unforgettable.
